Rigid Airship Projects
This Project was undertaken in the Netherlands and was to modernise the rigid airship designs of old for luxury tours.
Aeromechanics supported the engineering design team predominantly on the rigid framework. Also supported the certification effort to produce new Transport Airworthiness Requirements for large airships as none at that time existed. Today the TAR (March 2000) for large airships (more than 20 passengers or maximum weight of 15 tonnes or greater than 20,000 m3) has been adopted by the Dutch and German airworthiness authorities.
Constructed Finite Element Models to establish structural strength, weight and material optimisation.
